Matt Silliman, Professor, MCLA

"Nick is a fine artist with a chisel, and a great guy to learn from – patient and generous, with a wicked, subtle sense of humor. I built my first guitar with him looking over my shoulder, and I’ll be delighted if my second one, which I’m building by myself, turns out half as well."

Testimonials

Courses run in groups of three, guaranteeing attentive guidance. Teacher and students build together.

Promoting a collaborative learning system, luthier and teacher Nick Lenski will first demonstrate the building technique on a instrument that he is building simultaneously allowing students to first observe, and then implement the technique on their own instrument.  In an effort to honor diverse learning styles, Nick will provide several techniques and modify as needed.

Students build instruments from start to finish using high quality, raw materials that they themselves hand pick. Building in an actively operating instrument building and repair shop, students have access to all tools and materials used by master luthiers.
